Mastercard QuickServe Australian Open

Some briefs ask you to build a space. The best ones ask you to build an experience. The Mastercard QuickServe activation at the Australian Open 2026 was the latter.

Working directly with Mastercard, our internal design team led the project from initial concept and creative direction through to spatial design, project management and delivery. The objective was to create a fast, frictionless retail environment that reflected the premium positioning of the Mastercard brand while handling the volume and energy that comes with one of Australia’s biggest sporting events.

Design drove every decision. Our team developed a space where the visual language of Mastercard felt native rather than applied, working through material selection, colour, lighting, signage hierarchy and structural form as a single unified design story. The goal was a space that felt considered from every angle, whether a visitor was moving through quickly or pausing to take it in.

At its core, the experience was built around simplicity. Tap your card, grab what you want, walk out. No queues, no checkouts, no friction. Behind the scenes, 26 ceiling-mounted cameras and shelf sensors tracked selections in real time, letting fans stay focused on the tennis while the technology quietly handled the rest.

The structure itself was built in collaboration with Groblox, using a combination of two Single Blocks and three Corner Blocks to create a compact, flexible framework that supported the full technology-led retail experience.
